SQTE Snapshots

The publication series School Quality and Teacher Education Snapshots has the purpose of making academic findings from school effectiveness and improvement research accessible to school leaders and teachers.

School Quality and Teacher Education Snapshots 1.1

Today, the fist Snapshot on the ´Mindset theory´ is published in the context of the SQTE project.

In the booklet the well-known mindset theory of motivational psychologist Carol Dweck (Stanford University) is presented. The theory describes two modes of thinking that can account for some students exceeding all expectations and others keeping below their potential. This snapshot illustrates situations that link to the mindsets on an empirical basis. Furthermore, suggestions are made for how teachers can develop growth mindset principles to benefit their own as well as their students’ progress. Finally, theoretical findings are set into relation with practical implementation possibilities that emerge from the SQTE project.
